Welcome

A message from the chair of the trust

The Knowledge Schools Trust is delighted to welcome Bedford Road Primary Academy to our growing group of excellent primary schools. We look forward to working with the school and supporting staff to ensure all children get the best possible education. Building on the success of our existing three Ofsted Outstanding primary schools in London, we have already welcomed two local primary schools into the Trust in recent years, these schools have shown rapid improvement in outcomes. We look forward to building on this further with Bedford Road Primary Academy and expanding the hub of fantastic primary schools in the Bedfordshire area. I am confident our highly skilled primary improvement team, led by Laura Lund will work hand-in-hand with school staff to drive similar improvement.

As Chair of the Trust, I lead the governance efforts across our schools, and I look forward to working with the school community to ensure strong governance in the school, that is fully integrated within our existing structures and allows Bedford Road Primary Academy to benefit from the skills and resources within our Trust. I am sure you will see changes in the curriculum, and classroom practice over the coming months, as parents please support your children's teachers to embrace this and please don’t hesitate to raise any questions you may have. There is a lot of hard work ahead, but it will hopefully be rewarding for all involved and most importantly ensure all children are receiving an excellent education at the school.

A warm welcome to parents, staff and most importantly all the Bedford Road Primary Academy pupils.

Our Aims

Bedford Road is committed to being a welcoming, community based school. The school’s aim is to promote a sense of Belief in all our children and families, with the goal of Achieving high expectations in all areas of learning and that as a team – child, family and school we can do this Together. We also foster three key rules throughout the school: Be Kind, Be Respectful, Be the Best You Can Be!

The curriculum is delivered using a subject approach to study. The curriculum is cyclical in nature and builds progressively from EYFS to year 6. The children receive regular opportunities to review and ‘retrieve’ their knowledge.

Children learn in many different ways and our lessons incorporate different learning approaches, ensuring active participation in all activities. This active approach to learning will ensure that children are motivated.

Our effective use of assessment for learning ensures that children can see the purpose of their own learning and all lessons are expected to be led by an appropriate learning objective which is shared with the children, along with related success criteria.
